Tag Calendar Book

designed by Claire Hampton

Materials:
Hampton Art Stamps:
Post Script Clear Stamp: CS4383 Calendar
CH4946 Love Fluff Part

Inks/color:
Black Versamagic Ink (either Dewdrop size or regular pad)
Variety of Dewdrop Versamagic inks in assorted colors based on paper selection

Additional Supplies:
6 American Tag large 8” x 4 1/8” Manila shipping tags
The Ultimate Glue
UHU purple glue stick
Eyelets
Flatback “jewels”
12” x 12” Cardstock (2 sided works nicely) – 3 sheets
Ribbon – 3/8” and ¼” wide in coordinating patterns/colors to cardstock
Crop-a-Dial
Bind-It-All from Zutter or binder snap rings

Instructions:

  • Cut shipping tags to 7.5”, 7.0”, 6.5”, 6.0”, 5.5” and 5.0” lengths.
  • Cut 2 strips each of the decorative cardstock to the matching lengths and widths of the tags.  (7.5” x 4-1/8”, 7.0” x 4-1/8”, 6.5” x 4-1/8”, 6.0” x 4-1/8”, 5.5” x 4-1/8”, and 5.0” x 4-1/8”.)
  • Using UHU glue stick, adhere decorative cardstock strips to each side of each tag.  (If you are using double-sided cardstock, alternate patterns per your preferences.)  Trim each tag corner after adhering the first and then after the second piece of cardstock.
  • Depending on the colors in your decorative cardstock, ink along the edges, front and back, of the tags.  This softens the look.
  • Using black ink, stamp the blank calendar on each side of each tag, horizontally!  Leave enough of a border to allow for binding at the left side.  ¾” should be good.   Continue with the other 5 tags.
  • Starting with the shortest tag for January/February, and using an appropriate calendar as a guide, stamp the numbers for each month.  This can be a bit tedious, but the results are very nice!
  • Using pastels or bright inks, stamp over the cardstock with your choice of the assorted small swirls from the unmounted rubber set.   Vary the ink colors per each month if you wish.
  • Cut small tags 1.75” x 1.5” from left over cardstock using either a punch or a paper trimmer.  Use the Crop-a-Dial to punch holes.  Insert eyelets if desired.  Stamp if desired.  (These can be used to denote the four seasons at the bottom of the first page, or as decorative elements attached with ribbon, if desired.)
  • Use the Zutter Bind-It-All with the “A” open setting.  Line up each tag with the center line to punch the end of the tags.  Since the tags are only 4-1/8” wide, this is easy to do and all pages will line up perfectly.
  • Cut 3/8” ribbon pieces 5” long to thread through the Bind-It-All openings.  Knot and then trim ends.

NOTE:  If you do not have access to a Bind-It-All machine, punch holes (evenly spaced) with Crop-a-Dial and thread metal binder snaprings through the holes.

  • Using The Ultimate Glue, affix flatback “jewels” to the first page of the calendar.
